About City

Tokyo is the capital and the most populous prefecture of Japan. It is known for its historic shrines and temples, and performing arts such as Noh, Kabuki and Rakugo, which have been enjoyed for centuries. Major venues which celebrate Japanese cultural traditions include the Kabukiza Theatre, the National Noh Theatre and the Kokugikan Hall. Tokyo is the largest urban economy in the world by gross domestic product and it is also Japan's leading business hub as part of an industrial region. Tokyo is home to the world's tallest tower, Tokyo Skytree and the world's largest underground floodwater diversion facility. The majority of Tokyo prefecture lie in the humid subtropical climate zone with hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters with occasional cold spells. There are four national parks in Tokyo Prefecture, including the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, which includes all of the Izu Islands. Tokyo, with a diverse array of sports, is home to two professional baseball clubs.
